Note: About a decade ago, I noted a correlation between the proliferation of High Fructose Corn syrup in processed food products and the rise of obesity in America. I decided to remove corn syrup from my diet as best I could. Reading labels, I discovered that, often, there were similar, alternative products that did not use corn syrup at all, in which case, I switched products rather than giving up the food I enjoyed. If I could not find a readily-available, corn syrup-free alternative, I had to make a decision as to whether it was a food or beverage that I could give up or not. (WAS IT ONE OF THE PRODUCTS I JUST HAD TO EAT TO REMAIN HAPPY?) If I decided I could not give up the product, I tried to find a source with less corn syrup and to consume less of the product until such a time that I could give it up completely.
