Wheat Harvest

Southern Fresh TV

Hosted by Tim Haas and Jan Kirby and shot entirely on location in North Carolina, this new TV series is all about the magical convergence that happens when home-grown, garden-fresh produce is turned into great food in the kitchen.

Be it beets or basil, corn or cabbage, persimmons or peppers, Tim and Jan have a unique way of turning what happens in the garden into magic on the plate. The series is the extension of Tim and Jan’s garden-to-kitchen brand as currently seen on At Home in the Carolinas on MyFox Charlotte and the new book, Herb Garden Gourmet, published by Source Books.

Thirteen episodes of Southern Fresh are being produced by Homerun Entertainment to air on the RFD cable network, scheduled to begin May 2010. This series is wholly owned by Tim and Jan Inc.

Each episode will start in a home or demonstration garden. This is where we will focus on what’s fresh, seasonable and ready for harvest. This will become the featured ingredient of that episode.

Jan will lead the way in following the growth cycle of the chosen ingredient. We’ll see how it is planted, how it sprouts, how it’s fed and watered, how it’s nurtured, and ultimately, how it reaches its ripe perfection. We will use local settings, gardens, experts and food purveyors to lead us through this step of the journey. We will pick this ingredient, marvel at its beauty and simplicity, and then take it into the kitchen for preparation.

In the kitchen, Tim will walk us through several different recipes that use the featured ingredient. His demonstration style is thorough, but easy to follow, inspiring, and deliciously fun. What’s more, the recipes will compliment one another and become part of a complete meal.

The show will end with Tim and Jan displaying their food and then sitting down to eat and enjoy their fresh, culinary creations with friends and family.
