Tim Haas

Tim Haas is a self-taught chef from Northwestern North Carolina. After embracing his love for the kitchen and all the magic it held for a young lad, his interest grew into a keen desire to fully develop the ability to chop, dice and slice just about any ingredient he could get his hands on. He has practiced his passion for gourmet cooking for more than 20 years. Since public speaking is a large part of his life outside of the kitchen, Tim’s love of all things culinary also included a desire to show others how to create delectable dishes. He started “sharing” by co-writing several cookbooks, demonstrating at food shows, and speaking often before hosts of eager listeners. He joined forces with his business partner and friend, Jan Kirby, and she opened his eyes to the joys and benefits of gardening. Now, Tim and his wife, Donna, take delight in container gardening in their backyard. They live outside of Hickory, N.C. with Roxie, their German Shepherd.

Jan Kirby

 Jan Kirby is a master gardener living in Northwestern North Carolina. She enjoys growing everything - from fruits, herbs, and flowers to vegetables and vines. She comes by this love honestly. Her childhood was spent on 50 acres of land her grandparents cultivated into producing nourishing food for their family. Early in life, under the tutelage of her beloved grandmother, she learned to preserve food by canning, freezing, pickling and fermenting. Jan joined forces with her business partner and longtime friend Tim Haas to find ways to share their knowledge with others. Having realized that many people today are curious about gardening, she and Tim have written columns for newspapers, written three cookbooks, spoken before clubs and organizations, appeared on television and are now poised to launch the television program, Southern Fresh. Jan has two sons and has tried to instill her love of cooking and gardening in them. She is an accomplished faux finisher and decorative painter and owner of Uniquely Yours, Custom Walls by Jan.
